Derek T Tillman, B.S. Graduate Student. My major interest are in understanding how macrophages perform tissue degradation functions in human body. I am currently studying multi nucleate giant cells induced by vitamin D3 and mycobacterial stimulation and analyzing their proteolytic enzyme activity against various substrates including dental substrates.
Amanda Smith, BS. UT Austin. Research Assistant II. My interests are in the characterization of macrophage and T-cell responses in mice during experimental tuberculosis and after vaccination. I use in vitro cell culture and flow cytometry to map activation CD4 and CD8 T-cells and study their functions through cytokine elaboration, cytotoxicity and other functional assays. My administrative responsibilities include lab management, purchases and lab up keeping.

Sundarsingh Daniel. Ph.D. Madras University. Post Doctoral Scientist. My research is on the mechanisms of macrophage and T-cell mediated regulation of immunity to tuberculosis using novel Complement C5 knockout mice. My particular interests are in the C5 mediated regulation of phagocyte oxidase and nitric oxide synthase enzymes that are normally involved in the killing of M. tuberculosis in macrophages. I use various methods in signal transduction biochemistry to define phox and iNOS regulation in macrophages.
