IChose pathology because of the objective, concrete nature of diagnoses intrinsic to this field.
IChose UT because of the collegial atmosphere shared among the attendings and residents. Having graduated from this medical school, I observed the Pathology department for 4 years, and was always impressed with their interactions with other medical departments, their own residents, and the medical students. This program has accepted the challenge of creating an active discourse between laboratory medicine/pathology and clinical medicine, which can only optimize patient care. Being situated in the Texas Medical Center ensures a variety of challenging and rewarding diagnoses, and the UT-resident will never want for exposure. And finally (!!!), I stayed at UT because of the residents. The residents in this program are intelligent, hard-working, active in the arena of publications/presentations, and above all, good natured, warm hearted, and friendly. This is a great program, and I could not be happier about being here!
